L finished before Decembers end!!!!

Here wew are and it is Boxing Day, the sun is shining with a cool sea breeze blowing in through the verandah doors. Beautiful...........!!!!! Everyone has gone for a walk along the beach and I am using this window of peacefulness to post my latest blocks to my blog!
The photos look like I have scorched to blocks with the iron, but it is because I had left the paper (from the paper piecing) on the back until I joined them together. Maybe not the best idea!

Quilting Bee

Things have been a bit slow on the Around The World Bee front during the last month. I think it is because most of the participants are from the UK and USA and have been too busy sunning themselves on their summer holidays!! Luckily we are having a bit of warmth ourselves after a very long, cold and wet winter!!
Anyway, here are my last 2 Bee blocks......
Rachel asked for anything to complement her starter block (top left, below) and most people had used the lovely hot pink and some orange. I love hot pink, but discovered I don't have much in my stash, so concentrated on the bright orange. I think her quilt will be stunning when she receives 25 bright blocks in these gorgeous colours!!
Rachel's blocks so far!
Moira's block took a bit of planning. She had requested 'grids' as her inspiration for her quilt (centre block below is her starter) As you can see below there have been many interpretations of the grid theme. I had a brilliant idea at 3am one morning to do a map of Melbourne CBD which is a perfect grid!! Great idea, but a little more difficult especially at the intersections!!! Thankfully I didn't add all the tiny lane ways too.....
I used Moira's original colours to complete the block.
Below is the block showing my crazy idea of the streets, showing Bourke St Mall and Swanston street walk.
